Southside

Prep time:

A refined Mojito with gin instead of rum. Herbal, citrusy, and with the botanical character of gin. Some say it originated at the 21 Club in New York during Prohibition.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz of gin
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
  • 0.5 oz of lime juice
  • 0.5 oz of sugar syrup
  • 3 dashes Angostura bitters

Preparation

  1. In a cocktail shaker, add the gin, mint, syrup, and lime.
  2. Shake with ice until the mint releases its oils (about 15 seconds).
  3. Double strain into a coupe glass or lowball glass with ice.
  4. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
