Sidecar

A refined and timeless sour. The balance between the warmth of the cognac, the sweetness of the orange liqueur, and the acidity of the lemon makes it a classic from the 1920s.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz of cognac
  • 1 oz of triple sec (Cointreau)
  • 1 oz of fresh lemon juice
  • sugar (for the rim, optional)

Preparation

  1. Moisten the rim of the glass with lemon and roll it in fine sugar (optional).
  2. In a cocktail shaker with ice, shake the cognac, triple sec and lemon.
  3. Double strain into the prepared cup.
  4. Garnish with a squeezed orange peel.
