Negroni Sbagliato

A twist on Negroni

Prep time:

Campari and sweet vermouth in equal parts, with prosecco where the gin would go. “Sbagliato” means “mistaken”: as Bar Basso in Milan tells it, in the 1970s bartender Mirko Stocchetto reached for the sparkling wine instead of the gin, and the mistake stayed on the menu.

Ingredients

  • 30 ml Campari
  • 30 ml sweet vermouth
  • 30 ml well-chilled prosecco
  • Large ice cubes
  • Orange peel

Preparation

  1. Fill the glass with ice and add the Campari and vermouth.
  2. Stir for a few seconds to chill them before the sparkling wine goes in.
  3. Top with the prosecco, slowly and down the side of the glass.
  4. One turn of the spoon, and the orange peel expressed over the top.
