Rum & Tonic
Prep time:
The highball almost nobody orders, and which turns out surprisingly well. The sweetness of the cane and the bitterness of the quinine balance each other on their own, with nothing added to fix it.
Ingredients
- 50 ml white rum
- 120 ml well-chilled tonic water
- Large ice cubes
- A lime wheel and, if you like, mint
Preparation
- Fill a highball glass to the top with ice.
- Pour in the rum and stir a couple of times to chill it before adding the tonic.
- Squeeze the lime wheel over the glass and let it drop in.
- Add the tonic with the glass tilted, letting it slide down the side.
- One turn with a bar spoon. If you are using mint, clap it between your hands before adding it: the idea is to wake up the aroma, not to bruise it.
